A new generation of artists have dedicated themselves to the ancient art of Trompe l’Oeil. Inspired by a profound desire to revive this art form, they have undertaken a voyage of research into the ways men have treated the space in which they live through the ages, a symbolic space where dimensions embody a whole range of evocative potential.
Through its work, Valentino Morselli creates, invents and shapes the innumerable facets of fantasy, concretely visualising aspects of the imaginary that often remain only an unperceived vibration. Valentino Morselli’s interpretation of Trompe l’Oeil distinguishes itself through technical perfection, extensive research on form, and an accurate choice of materials, all of which are essential to this ancient art form. Careful analysis of the environment and the context of the work, as well as an in-depth study of the dimensions to be worked within, also contribute heavily to the end result. Spatial dimensions are called upon to serve precise private or social functions, in harmony with the wishes and taste of whoever has commissioned the work.
Trompe L’Oeil can be painted on a varied range of surfaces, such as plaster, canvas, or wooden panels. Elements of "pictoral relief" made of various materials, such as plaster of paris or resin, may be incorporated into the work. The illustrations that follow are intended to be a guide towards understanding the unlimited possibilities of manipulating and re-evaluating the space in which we live.
